THE STEER (Surgical Trainees in East of England Research) collaborative group is a regional, trainee-led research collaborative established in early 2018. It is driven by passionate surgical trainees committed to enhancing collaborative research, with the goal of achieving the following:
- Coordinate and run high-quality multi-centre collaborative research projects to drive changes that optimize patient care.
- Establish a robust research network among local trusts in the East of England.
- Encourage engagement of surgical trainees in trainee-led collaborative research efforts.
- Promote surgical research initiatives within the East of England deanery.
- Develop the knowledge of surgical trainees regarding research methodology.
- Aim to present and publish STEER group projects, acknowledging the authorship of all participants (significant contributions will be recognized during core trainee/ST3 applications and for peer-reviewed papers necessary for CCT).
